South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt took his place in the Olympic Stadium behind Prince Harry, while Farnham dancer Eva Blanco performed alongside a glittering array of pop stars.

Local Olympians including basketball star Joel Freeland, synchronised swimmer Katie Dawkins, show jumper Peter Charles and hockey player Alex Danson helped fill Damien Hurst's huge Union Jack mural.

And in his speech, Tilford's own Lord Sebastian Coe hailed the London Olympics as a big success and gave particular thanks to all the volunteers who have contributed to the 2012 Games - among them many Farnham people.
