FARNHAM Town Council is fighting its corner against the breakaway proposals of the Rowledge's Village Plan Work Group, whose bid for its own parish council independent of Farnham's control is currently up for debate.

The group, which has accused the town council of not giving Rowledge villagers a fair return on their council tax bills, sparked the current formal review by Waverley Borough Council.

In response to the first stage of the consultation exercise being conducted by Waverley, the town council has this week expressed its concerns on behalf of its electorate who total more than 30,000 people.

The town council has formally stated its objections to the proposal to create a separate parish council incorporating part of the village of Rowledge and an area described as the 'Sandrock Triangle'.
