HASLEMERE is set to be featured in a gripping BBC science documentary that could save lives in the event of a deadly pandemic hitting the country.

Residents will shortly be invited by filmmakers 360 Production to download an app that will help a science team from the University of Cambridge and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine simulate how a flu pandemic might affect the UK within a close-knit small town.

All they would have to do is download it onto their smartphones, then do nothing out of the ordinary during the 72 hours in which the experiment will be running.

The build up, three-day period of the study in Haslemere, and results, will be featured in a BBC documentary airing early next year, to be presented by the University College London mathematician Dr Hannah Fry and medic Dr Javid Abdelmoneim.
