SURREY Heritage will hold a one-off event at the Museum of Farnham on Saturday, April 2, inviting people in Farnham to get involved in its four-year Heritage Lottery Fund-supported project ‘Surrey in the Great War: A Country Remembers’.
One hundred years ago, Surrey was playing its part in the first global war between modern, industrialised nations. It was a conflict which called for previously unthinkable sacrifices by the country’s people, young and old, rich and poor.
The event, taking place between 11am and 3pm in the museum’s garden gallery, will explore Farnham’s role in the 1914 to 1918 conflict, share information on the Surrey in the Great War project and exciting discoveries by researchers and volunteers.
Highlights will include talks at 11.20am, noon and 2pm and free refreshments will be available. For more information visit the website www.exploringsurreyspast.org.uk.
