TOYS from the past came to life for young children and their carers at Haslemere Museum last week.

One of its regular early years sessions, the special event gave youngsters the joy of listening to stories, taking part in craft activities and looking at museum objects.

With emphasis on toys from the past children enjoyed handling a push-along dog, spinning tops, a metal helicopter and a clockwork monkey.

Early years sessions take place fortnightly on Fridays and alternate between morning and afternoon.

•Easter holiday events start with Spring Delights – an arts and crafts session from 11am-3pm, on Tuesday, April 3.

On Monday, April 9, there is an early birds opening for families whose children have autistic spectrum conditions, from 11am-1pm, where they can handle different objects in the collection.

Learn about the Romans in Britain with a drop-in event on Tuesday, April 10 (10.30am-1pm). Arts and crafts activities will include making a mosaic, a Roman armband and coin-rubbing.
