A WAR of words has broken out after last week's news that the town's traders have been told to remove all their colourful advertsing A-boards from Petersfield public walkways and pavements.

The decision has caused uproar in the town after shopkeepers slammed the decision by Hampshire County Council to take action over the "unauthorised signs" by Saturday at the latest, after complaints by local residents.
