OVER the Easter weekend, the Rural Life Centre will pack in three days of traditional fun for all ages. On Easter Saturday, March 26, there is an exciting steam toy Rally.
The museum buildings and pond will be hissing and puffing to the sound of steam-driven toys from yesteryear. Anyone bringing in and demonstrating working steam toys on Saturday will get in free.
It’s an event that appeals tol old and young alike; it reminds dads and grandads of their own childhood when they may have played with similar toys, and will fascinate youngsters who may never have seen steam toys in acttion.
Many of these historic steam toys will be stationary engines, but steam-powered road vehicles and trains will also be on display, and toy steam boats will be running on the pond. The Old Kiln Lightrailway will also be in operation.
On Easter Sunday and Monday join in with the Easter Chick Hunt around the museum plus an Easter bonnet competition on March 28. People are invited to dust off their best hat or come along and make their own.
