SUNDAY morning train services between Petersfield and Haslemere were suspended and the power was cut off when a man died on the line.
The incident, which happened near the Liss Common level crossing, was reported at 9-20 am by staff on the 8-15 am train from Waterloo.
The 8-50 am from Waterloo was stuck at Liphook and the 8-40 am from Portsmouth was stuck between Petersfield and Liss Common.
South West Trains had a five-bus shuttle service in action between Petersfield and Haslemere by 9-50 am. Passengers were advised to travel via Brighton and Reading if possible.
Road traffic in Liss was disrupted as all the barriers were down and police redirected the traffic.
The 8-40 am train was moved to Liss station just after 11 am and the passengers were taken on from the station at 11-40. The roads were reopened at 11-50 am and the current was restored at 12-35 pm.
A number of train services were terminated early until 4-30 pm when the full timetable was restored.
The man, who has not been named, came from the Cobham area.
British Transport Police said the incident was not being treated as suspicious. It is believed to have been a suicide.
