SWALLOWS Trampoline Club has hosted a trampoline and gymnastics fun day at Mill Chase Academy.
Sessions included trampoline and gymnastics coaching and a display by a Swallows’ team comprising: Cerys McIntosh, Hannah and Jessie Drake, Abby Naylor, Eleanor Kettel, Lauren Dobner, Alex and Grace Fairhurst. There was also a special visit from Santa Claus, who gave all of the children a present.
Club secretary and coach Lynn Joyce said: “As a club we are very keen to get more children with disabilities involved in trampoline gymnastics, it is hugely important for them to be involved in physical activity and be part of a club. The sport is extremely good for children with disabilities.“
She added that Daisy Garguilo, who has cerebral palsy, has seen her muscle tone has improved “beyond expectations” in the 18 months she has been with Swallows. Many other children have also benefited from the sessions offered by the specially qualified disabilities coaches Sadie McNeice, Faye Joyce, Sam Cartwright and Richard Lewis. Additional activities were also offered by Helen Wishart of Caterpillar Crafts who did “a fantastic job” entertaining the children having break from bouncing and making Christmas cards and decorations.
