HOMELESS charity Transform Housing & Support’s Christmas cards for 2015 are now available to order, featuring a picture created by a client of Transform in Farnham.

Proceeds raised will support the charity’s work with homeless and vulnerable people who face difficulties such as mental health issues, learning disabilities and homelessness in and around Surrey.

Transform clients were invited to send in their artwork for its Christmas card competition which launched in winter 2014. The winning entry was a picture called ‘Star in the East’ by Edward from Farnham.

Before coming to Transform, Edward was struggling to cope with mental health issues. He had been living in a flat alone for four years, but was quite isolated and became very ill and was hospitalised.

He then moved in to a shared house run by Transform, where he lives with people who have been through similar experiences.

Edward said: “When I first visited Transform, I immediately noticed it was peaceful. I was able to move in quickly, and I’ve now been here for six years. It’s the best place I’ve ever been, and my life is completely different now. It is therapeutic here, and that has been a big part of the healing process for me.”

Part of Edward’s therapy is to attend an art class which is where he created the winning entry for this year’s Christmas card competition.

He continued: “I just created the image out of my head, at an art therapy class I attend in Farnham.

“I was very happy and encouraged with the news, and it has helped my confidence.”

Each pack of Christmas cards costs £3.75 and contains 10 cards in total. Three packs can be ordered for £10. The funds raised will support homeless and vulnerable people and give them a second chance in life this Christmas.
