TRAVELLERS camped out on Ministry of Defence land off Bramshott Chase, near Hindhead, who were served with an eviction notice last week, were still there as The Herald went to press on Wednesday.

Between 17 and 30 caravans and other vehicles are believed to have been moving between the MOD land and the former Spaniard Inn site off theA3, since last Thursday.
Major Tom Wie from the MOD said: "The eviction notice was served on Friday, so they should have left by Sunday," he said. "It is a matter for the MOD police now."
A meeting was due to take place on Wednesday to discuss further action.
