IT was ‘Treasure Ahoy’ during the last week of the school holidays, when Farnham Baptist Church transformed into a treasure island for its Holiday Bible Club.

More than 100 children were welcomed on board for the week by an unusually friendly crew of pirates.

They enjoyed singing, dancing, getting creative and lots of bad pirate jokes, as well as interacting with Bible stories through drama, quizzes, and small group activities. Each day, a character introduced the children to part of the Bible book of Exodus.

Dan Adams, who led a team of more than 60 church members to run the club, said: “You might think that the Bible doesn’t say that much about pirates, but in the book of Exodus, God calls his people his ‘treasured possession’.

“We’ve loved sharing the good news that the God of the Bible is a rescuing God, who’ll go to any lengths to get his treasure back. We see our annual Holiday Bible Club as an opportunity to serve our local community, and to get to know children and their families.”

More than 200 people also gathered for the Sunday Family Celebration, followed by a barbecue on the beach. Find out more about the church at farnhambaptist.org.uk.
