ALTONIANS have welcomed the return to the town this week of a number of treasures, recovered from the Public Gardens in the late 19th century and stored until now at the Hampshire County Museum headquarters at Chilcomb, near Winchester.
It is intended to display the pieces in a show case in the main entrance of Alton's Curtis Museum.
