TRELOAR College is celebrating the receipt of an “outstanding” overall rating by the Care Quality Commission.
A public body, established in 2009 by the Department of Health to regulate and inspect health and social care service, the Care Quality Commission’s report followed a full inspection of the Holybourne campus in the summer, focusing on residential accommodation, healthcare provision, and support for students outside their educational curriculum.
Nationally, only two per cent of providers are rated as outstanding.
College principal Martin Ingram said: “This is a tremendous accolade for Treloar’s and comes soon after Ofsted rated all aspects of the educational provision of the college as outstanding earlier in the year.”
Care Quality Commission inspectors are said to have highlighted the “outstanding support” that students receive at Treloar’s in a wide range of areas and praised the expertise, training and caring approach of the staff, saying: “The service provided by the college was exceptionally well focused on the students. Staff ‘went the extra mile’ for the students.
“The college made exceptional use of assistive technology to enable students to express their views, to take part in decisions about their care, and to maximise their independence. There were excellent relationships between staff and students, with staff putting students at the centre of their care.”
Mr Ingram said he was proud of the report.
“I am delighted that the inspectors have recognised the outstanding commitment and professionalism of our staff across the organisation. They have confirmed that Treloar’s is one of the leading organisations in the country and that our support for young people is exceptional.”
