THE theme for this year’s Treloar School and College Anti-Bullying Week was ‘Making a Noise’.
One of the key aims of the week was to empower children and young people to make a noise about bullying, whether it is happening to them or to someone else, face to face or online.
And the Treloar students certainly took this to its beating heart.
The week’s events were kicked off with SHOUTPOD, which brought a great radio experience to the students.
They were all encouraged, whatever their ability, to get involved and be the DJ, making dedications to friends and shouting out to make a stand against the bullies.
The middle of the week saw Treloar’s working with Ray Watters of Drum With Us, with more than 40 students in each workshop being inspired by rhythm and its positive health benefits.
Students were able to vocalise or use instruments to banish bullies.
And the week ended with OK – an informative, interactive, inclusive theatre company which worked with students to create anti-bullying forums.
Positive comments came from both students and staff regarding how positive it was to be able to make a difference and show support for each other.
