THE Treloar swim squad was in action for the first time this year and returned with honours!

The squad competed at the annual gala organised by Rushmoor Mallards Swimming Club at Aldershot Pool, just a few weeks into the new term.

Treloar School and College entered a squad of nine swimmers comprising four students - inspired by the success of the GB Paralympic squad in Beijing!

From the college, Sonny New achieved a personal best in his individual medley, winning two silver and one bronze medal. Anna Pakenham improved on her 50m freestyle and won one gold and three silver medals.

Ellie Sewell also improved on her 25m backstroke and won two silver and one bronze.

Luis Coward won two gold medals, breaking his own personal best in both events.

But the school swimmers were not to be outdone.

Marie Delvin won a silver; Ella Jones won two bronze; Matthew Linguard and Issy Morgan won a silver medal each and Lilly Irvine swam brilliantly to win three gold medals.

It was Ella, Issy and Lilly's first competition and it shows the potential that Treloar's has in the squad.

In the individual points competition Lilly Irvine was runner-up in the Junior Girls, Anna Packenham came runner up in the Ladies and Luis Coward won the Endeavour Trophy for exceptional achievement.

In the team competition the Treloar Squad came joint first with the Sussex Squids.

The Treloar squad was assisted by a number of staff.
