THE Mayor of Farnham, John Ward, will lead Farnham’s tribute to the country’s armed forces this Monday (June 20).

To celebrate Armed Forces’ Day, a short flag-raising ceremony will take place at 10am at the flag pole near the war memorial in Gostrey Meadow.

Mr Ward, said: “As the home town of Surrey’s only Reserves Centre, we hold a special place in our hearts for the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment also known as the Tigers. Unfurling the official Armed Forces’ Day flag is a way for us to show our support and to offer a symbol of friendship to all British services’ personnel.”

Representatives from the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, the Army Benevolent Fund, Royal British Legion and 229 Air Squadron Air Training Corps and community organisations will take part in the ceremony. Everybody is welcome to attend.
