TRIBUTES have been paid to a St John Ambulance stalwart who served the community for 37 years.
Robert Paul Coombes died on May 29 after a short illness. He was 54.
Long-standing friend and divisional superintendent Dr John Tough said: "Bob's service in St John Ambulance was lifelong, totally unselfish, giving care, treatment and comfort to all those that needed it.
"He was the life and soul of many a dreary first-aid duty and was a great help and support to new young members gaining confidence in the first-aid tent."
