Calling all aspiring writers and actors – Farnham has a new outlet where you can share your talents locally.

Farnham Radio Theatre is a new initiative that produces, writes and performs local original narrated stories, comedy and drama series.

The group currently consists of writer Alan Goodchild and husband and wife actors Ian and Sara Wilson-Soppitt.

Sara says: “Ian and I have known Alan for quite a long time and discovered he had this yearning to write, having retired and thought his work was really good.

“We encouraged him to write some one-act plays that we could put on at Tilford to showcase his work and also to have something fun to do.

“We had two nights of his plays at the Tilford Institute as the Tilbourne Players and we realised that Alan has a real talent for writing dialogue, and we asked him if he would come up with something.”

Alan’s first idea Wedlock is about husband and wife Stephen and Annabel (voiced by Ian and Sara) as they navigate the everyday challenges of marriage.

The series of six episodes is available on the group’s website and was featured on BBC Upload and BBC Radio Surrey, Kent and Oxford in February. Three seperate stories are also published online and a project called Siblings is in the works but Sara says the group wants to expand.

“Our vision for the website is we'd like to get other people involved, other local people involved, not just the three of us, Sara says. We know a lot of local actors, but we don't know a lot of local writers, so we're thinking that we might invite people to submit their work..”
