ANYONE curious in trying out sailing is invited to get out on the water at Frensham Pond on Saturday, May 12, and take part in the Royal Yachting Association’s Push Your Boat Out event.

Throughout the whole of May some 52 sailing venues across the South East, including Frensham Pond Sailing Club, are opening their doors and running free or low cost Push the Boat Out ‘have-a-go’ taster sessions.

The open day at Frensham Great Pond is free of charge and prospective sailors of all ages and abilities are encouraged to pop along anytime between 11am to 1.30pm. No pre-booking is required.

“Every event is different but there is something for everyone,” said RYA club support advisor Jackie Bennetts. “So many people still don’t realise that you can go sailing or windsurfing on your doorstep and that you don’t need to own a boat or a board as clubs and centres often have ones you can borrow or hire.

“Once you’ve learned the ropes, you can sail on your own or with your partner, friends or children in dinghies or bigger boats, at inland locations or at the coast. Nothing beats catching up with friends by the water on warm summer evenings.”

Every event will provide all the equipment you need, but a change of clothes is recommended. For full details, visit www.rya.org.uk/PTBO.
