PHYLLIS Tuckwell Hospice is looking for volunteers to help out in its shops and drive its delivery vans.

The hospice care charity has a total of 20 shops in various locations across West Surrey and North East Hampshire, and all are in need of extra hands.

As the charity offers free collection for those who are donating large items, such as furniture and a delivery service for those buying these items, it is also looking for more volunteer van drivers as well.

Phyllis Tuckwell’s shop-based volunteers help with sorting the donations which have been made and preparing them for sale, as well as helping customers, using the tills, listing items on Ebay and other generic retail tasks.

Volunteer van drivers and drivers’ mates collect larger donated items from across the charity’s catchment area of West Surrey and North-East Hampshire and take them to their shops, or take them from the shops to deliver to customers who are unable to collect the items themselves.

Like many charities, Phyllis Tuckwell relies heavily on its volunteers, who help in a wide variety of roles across the organisation.

Volunteering is not only beneficial for Phyllis Tuckwell - as well as the ‘feel-good factor’ which comes from doing their bit for a good cause, those who help others also often find that they are less stressed than their counterparts and experience higher levels of life satisfaction and well-being.
