THE Highways Agency has confirmed the Hindhead tunnel is on schedule and on budget, with just over 18 months to go before the proposed opening.

The A3 Improvement Project, which includes the mile-long twin-bore tunnels under Hindhead, reached its halfway point this month – and is set to open to traffic in September 2011.
