FARNHAM is set to see the light next weekend when a children's television presenter switches on the town's Christmas lights.
Chris Johnson, of CBBC, will flick the switch to usher in the countdown to the festive season next Saturday, November 22, at 4.30pm.
Chris, who is playing Buttons in The Harlington Centre's production of Cinderella and fellow cast members, will take to the stage in Gostrey Meadow at 4.15pm to entertain the crowd in the lead-up to the switch-on.
The lights will now extend up to The Mulberry near Farnham railway station. Icicle lights will line South Street and a cross street lighting scheme will illuminate West Street, Downing Street, South Street and East Street.
A festive Christmas tree will take pride of place in The Woolmead and, in partnership with Skanska, a special scheme has been designed for the street lights in Castle Street. New lights will also be installed in Gostrey Meadow.
