YOUNG?cricketers?from Churcher’s College in Petersfield have won this year’s Hampshire County Schools Cup across two age groups.
Entering three teams, the Ramshill-based school won two finals, at under-13 and under-14 level, while the under-15s were beaten in their age group final.
The under-14s put in a superb performance to beat a strong King Edward’s side by seven runs. And this was followed by an under-13 victory for Churcher’s over Portsmouth Grammar School by 24 runs.
The under-14s’ success means that Churcher’s will represent Hampshire next year in a national competition, while the under-13s will compete as county champions.
The under-15s lost to Portsmouth Grammar School in their cup final.
Rob Maier, head of cricket at Churcher’s, said: “It’s has been a brilliant year and an exceptional performance by all the Churcher’s College cricket teams. They have delivered consistently and are now able to reap the rewards.”
