THE Conde Link Twinning Association put on an evening of English food and entertainment to celebrate St George’s Day.
There was a patriotic singalong, as well as a fitting feast, at Whitehill village hall on April 23.
The event was enjoyed by members of the Petersfield, Headley and Conde Link twinning associations and organisers said partygoers had “a thoroughly wonderful time”.
Whitehill and Bordon is twinned with Conde-sur-Vire in France.
Saint George is the patron saint of England and is celebrated annually on 23 April - the day of his death in 303AD.
Saint George, a Roman soldier, never visited the British Isles, but during the Middle Ages he became revered by the English and legends described him fighting their side during the Crusades and the Hundred Years’ War against France. The earliest documented mention of St George in England comes from the venerable Bede who lived from around 673 to 735.
