A CAR crash involving two cars blocked the lower stretch of the Longmoor Road on Monday morning, at the sharp bend near Griggs Green, a notorious accident blackspot. At 10.30am a Toyota Corolla, driven by a 21-year- old man, from Bordon, collided with a Fiat Multipla people carrier, driven by a 38-year-old Liphook woman, who had two passengers, a 64-year-old woman and a young boy. Police believe the 21-year-old male driver may have lost control trying to negotiate the bend, which resulted in both cars ending up in the ditch. Police arrived on the scene along with two rapid response vehicles, two ambulances, and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. Both women and the male driver suffered chest and neck injuries and were attended by paramedics, but miraculously the young boy passenger was unhurt. They were all taken to The Royal Surrey, in Guildford, for a check-up before being released. Local residents have been campaigning to get the 40mph speed limit extended from the village to this stretch of the Longmoor Road for quite some time. Dr John Tough, chairman of the Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council, who lives in Griggs Green, near the scene of the accident, has been concerned over the safety of this particular stretch of the Longmoor Road. He said: "We have not had an accident here for a while, but it used to be quite a regular occurrence. "The problem seems to be with cars coming off the A3 driving towards Liphook, they underestimate the sharpness of the bend, after the Old Thorns turning, having gathered speed on the straight part of the road. "However, it will be difficult to extend the reduced speed limit from the village, but I feel that the signage giving adequate warning signs can be placed well before the bend from both sides." Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information can call 0845 0454545 or 0800 555 111 anonymously.
