AFTER two tremendously successful recruitment days and the annual registration morning, Farnham U3A has registered 112 new members in a week, taking the total membership soaring towards 1,500.

The recruitment days gave an opportunity for potential members to find out more about the organisation and to join if they wished.

The recruitment morning held on Thursday, September 6, not only provided a chance to join, but also to speak to interest group leaders and to enrol for those groups.

Whilst some groups are now full, there are still vacancies in some areas.

As member Michele Cozzi said: “It proves that what we are offering the people of Farnham and the surrounding area, is just what they want and need. Retirement can be a lonely time, but U3A offers so much to keep people active in their minds and bodies.”

Farnham U3A currently has 108 groups covering sports, pastimes, languages, crafts, the arts, literature, music and sciences. All groups meet during the daytime and the vast majority are held at Farnham Maltings.

U3A came to Farnham in 1990 and it has grown steadily ever since. Anyone interested in finding out more should check the website, www.farnhamu3a.org.uk.

There are well over a thousand U3As in Britain.
