SURREY Fire Brigade Union has warned that public and firefighters' lives will be at risk if the Surrey Fire and Rescue Authority proceeds with changes proposed in its draft public safety plan.

The plan, due to be debated by Surrey County Council's cabinet next Tuesday, is being trumpeted by the authority as the means to providing more firefighters and fire engines ready for action at the busiest times.
