EXPERTS from South East Water have teamed up with colleagues from other utility companies to produce a booklet which has essential information in one place.
The handy guide for households details what to do in an emergency involving water, gas or electricity supplies, as well as containing all the companies’ telephone numbers.
Customers can also find out how to join the priority services registers, where extra support is available during an energy or water outage. It includes details of the help available for those with medical conditions, restricted mobility and sight and hearing issues, as well as other additional needs.
Steve George, South East Water’s customer services director, said: “Our customers have said they would like to see all the information they need in one place for all utilities.
“So we’ve all worked together to produce this guide which covers everything from what to do if things go wrong to how to save money by using less water and energy, plus general advice on how to read meters and safety tips.
“Importantly, it also shows customers how to join the priority services registers, which are there so we can provide a helping hand when it’s needed.
“Sometimes emergencies like burst mains, damage to cables or severe weather do cause interruptions to water, power and gas supplies, so it’s always best to be prepared should that happen.
“By signing up to the priority services registers our customers can rest assured they will be looked after should the unexpected happen and also receive extra support from us where needed.”
The leaflet can be seen at bit.ly/sewtips. It has been produced in partnership with UK Power Networks alongside South East Water, Affinity Water, Anglian Water, Essex & Suffolk Water, Southern Water and Thames Water, Cadent, and SGN.
