THE church of St Leonard at Hartley Mauditt is reputed to be haunted.

Standing alone on the site of one of Hampshire’s lost villages, The Manor House was demolished in the early 1800s. But in recent weeks less ghostly activity in the form of vandalism has seen severe damage to stained glass windows worth thousands of pounds.

The wardens who care for the church are asking everyone who visits or lives in the surrounding area to be vigilant and report any “unghostly behaviour” to the police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Church warden Tom Brock said: “How will ghosts react to CCTV?”
