SCHOOLCHILDREN from Farnham joined Extinction Rebellion protesters and millions of others worldwide calling for "an end to the age of fossil fuels" on Friday morning (September 20).

Hundreds of children took time out from school to attend a demo in Gostrey Meadow, following by a march through Farnham town centre – temporarily bringing the town to a standstill.

The Global Climate Strike was inspired by teenage campaigner Greta Thunberg, who is attending the New York protest, where 1.1 million children have been allowed to miss school to join the march.

Afterwards, Extinction Rebellion Farnham posted online: "Thank you so much to those who made it to the protest this morning, helped organising, contributing or spreading the voice."
