THE 71st annual Brook Village Fete attracted a “fantastic turnout” on Bank Holiday Monday.
The event was opened by the vicar of All Saints Church, Rev Jane Vlach, and sponsored for the third year running by King Edward’s School Witley.
King Edward’s students helped to park cars and man the tea tent and barbecue, as well as running the hoop-la and overseeing the children’s races.
A highlight was the dog show, closely followed by the fairground rides, shooting gallery, hook-a-duck and bash-the-rat competitions, face painting, lucky dip, plate smashing and coconut shy.
There were closely-fought children’s races, a tug-of-war competition classic cars and performances by Godalming’s Fleur de Lys Morris Dancers. Also on offer were stalls selling plants, jewellery, crafts, ladies clothing, bags and scarves, plus second-hand books and bric-a-brac.
Fete organiser Jenny Foster said: “We were delighted with the fantastic turnout this Bank Holiday Monday. The fete has been a real success, thanks in part to the weather, but also the hard work of so many people. Special thanks go to to the group of student helpers from King Edward’s Witley who volunteered their spare time to help out with the general running of the event.”
The fete raised funds for Pirrie Hall and its grounds.”
