LINDFORD youngsters look set to enjoy the rest of the summer holidays bouncing, swinging and sliding on the newly installed play equipment in their village.
A selection of smart new apparatus has been put up in three places in Lindford this month - Mimosa Green, The Triangle and Pear Tree Green - and includes swings for children of all ages, a squirrel bench, an adult bench, a springer for youngsters to bounce on, and a soft surface under all the equipment.
Costing in the region of £10,000, the equipment was purchased with developers' contributions - money given to a parish by developers to improve facilities - after having been highlighted as a priority in Lindford's Parish Plan.
"We got majority support for it," said Lindford Parish Council chairman Ian Skelton-Smith, "and we only put in the equipment that had the most support."
Previously, the only play equipment in Lindford was a slide, climbing frame and swings at The Triangle, so villagers are delighted about the improved facilities.
"I think it's been well used already and I'm very pleased with the way it's been done," continued Mr Skelton-Smith.
"It looks very sturdy and is a welcome addition to the village."
Sheryl Swanston, who takes over as clerk to the parish council at the end of August, has been working on the project and is thrilled with the result, which will benefit youngsters for years.
"Lindford Parish Council works very hard to get things put in place for the young," she said.
