FRENSHAM joined the nation as communities celebrated and remembered the life of the late Jo Cox MP in The Great Get Together.
Residents stumbled into the world of Wonderland, as Alice and her Mad Hatter friends took over Hollowdene Recreation Ground on Saturday, leading the parade through the village.
Keeping everyone entertained was the More House Band and new for this year, the bucking bronco competition.
Other amusements on offer included a beauty parlour with glitter tattoos and face painting, maypole dancing, a garden party games competition, pony riding and bungee trampolines – visitors were also delighted to see Punch and Judy come to town.
There was a wide variety of stalls offering a choice of food and drink to relax, including mouth-watering homemade cakes.
Charity the Starburst Theatre Company, currently performing Legally Blonde at the Hartington in Fleet, took a visit to Wonderland and its twist on the usual ‘tea dress’ secured the cast first place in the parade for ‘Best Float’.
“We were in complete shock when we were announced as winners,” said cast member Hayley Poulter. "Zia Marsh celebrated in true style backflipping out in front, it was great news for the charity, scoring us a permanent engraved place on the trophy.”
The Frensham Great Get Together concluded with Party in the Park from 8pm. It played host to Foxy Laus and the Hounds of Sound, plus much more food and drink to keep the community replenished to party into the night.
