HAMPSHIRE Police carried out an operation aimed at prevening off-licences from selling booze to under-age children in and around Liphook on carnival night.
Officers visited 17 off-licences in the district to probe the potential sale of alcohol to under-18s, assisted by two 16-year-old girls who volunteered to attempt to buy alcohol from the stores.
Two premises failed the operation - Tesco Express in Petersfield and the One Stop in Bordon.
An £80 fixed-penalty notice was issued to the member of staff who made the sale in both cases. Follow-up visits will take place with the premises' management, officers stressed.
The Co-op, in Headley Road, Liphook, the village's Sainsbury's supermarket, in Midhurst Road, and the General Wine Company, in Station Road, Liphook, all passed the test.
