STEEP villagers say they have been "betrayed" after claiming that an agreement to save an ancient oak tree in the village has been broken.
The tree which they hoped would be saved for future generations has now, claimed Drake Hocking, the tree warden for Steep, received "a death sentence from which it is unlikely to recover".
