MORE than 400 villagers, dressed in patriotic red, white and blue, turned out for Milland’s celebrations of the Queen’s 90th birthday at the recreation ground, on Sunday.
Undeterred by some black clouds earlier in the day, endless bunting and balloons set the scene for a marvellous afternoon filled with family fun.
Paula Gratton ran a creative tent for children, there was face painting, a jazz band played and The Rising Sun pub served traditional jugs of Pimm’s.
A village relay and tug-of-war were just some of the games organised with young and old participants joining in.
Aspire Sports kept children busy with games and a football match and the day finishing with a toast to the Queen and everyone singing the National Anthem.
In true Milland style the rain stayed away and in the afternoon the sun managed to shine through on the community’s royal celebrations.
