VILLAGERS living by the double bridge in Tilford finally had their internet and phone connections restored this week – 50 days after a fallen oak snapped aerial cables in the early hours of Christmas Eve.
The three households affected avoided a wait of several more weeks thanks to one of them spending four hours with a chainsaw removing branches so large that they stood up above cable height.
Nigel Morland explained: "If I hadn't dealt with that tree myself, we would probably still be waiting for the tree surgeons."
