KINGSLEY couple Mary and Terry Blake are on guard after the consultation for the new Hampshire Minerals and Waste Plan, which aims to protect the county's beautiful environment and its communities.

Because Kingsley and neighbouring Oakhanger are rich in deposits of soft sand, used for building houses and roads, Hampshire might designate a new site to provide some of the 1.7m tonnes of soft sand to meet government quotas.
