CONCERNED residents on the Surrey and Hampshire border near Farnham have staged a protest against the perceived threat to their semi-rural community posed by development.

Around 50 protesters gathered in Fullers Road, Rowledge, last Friday morning to coincide with the site visit of East Hampshire district councillors to two proposed housing sites.

Developers want to build 17 and seven homes respectively in Fullers Road near the junction with the A325, and residents fear it could open the floodgates to more development.

Adding to these fears is Rowledge and Holt Pound's unfortunate position sandwiched between two councils - Waverley and East Hampshire District Council - both under Government pressure to allow more housing.
