GRAYSHOTT Society’s sixth Annual Awards Ceremony was held following the 2015 AGM.
The awards are in recognition of individuals or organisations that have made a special contribution to the on-going visual improvements in the village which have enhanced Grayshott.
Grayshott Society chairman Lady Haddon-Cave, who presented the awards, said that on coming to a decision, the committee considered all nominations put forward by members and committee
She thanked Grayshott Pottery for making and donating the personally inscribed ceramic award plates and for the use of its restaurant for the evening.
Two awards went to Wendy Annis and Vanessa Thompson.
Lady Haddon-Cave said: “Wendy is one of those villagers who work quietly behind the scenes to make Grayshott the special place it is.
“Every Christmas as our wonderful Christmas lights go on so the bus shelter on the village green becomes a seasonal grotto full of winter greenery.
“The elf responsible is Wendy and to mark our appreciation we would like to present her with this plate.”
Vanessa Thompson has been involved in many garden projects in the village over a great number of years.
She helped to set up Grayshott Gardeners Group, made Eccot Green colourful with planting of bulbs, instituted the hanging baskets for Grayshott In Bloom, put in village hall planting and improved the Peter Leete’s car park with a rockery and planting.
She had also planted troughs in and around the village and the beds in The Square.
Lady Haddon-Cave added: “Vanessa is also a leading light in Grayshott Hidden Gardens, now an established successful event for Grayshott Village.
“The village and we have so much to thank her for and are very pleased to give Vanessa this award.”
