FROXFIELD residents have given the thumbs up to Drum Housing GroupÕs plans for a further six affordable homes in the village.
More than 40 people attended the public display of DrumÕs proposals for the new development at Deans Dell and, as a result, the group is reviewing plans to incorporate local opinions.
Business co-ordinator at Drum, Beverley Gearey, explained: ÒWeÕve been working closely with the Froxfield Parish Council, East Hampshire District Council and local people to make sure these are the kind of homes that are needed in the area.
ÒAt the meeting we had some very positive comments on our designs and other suggestions we hadnÕt considered, such as log-burning fires and changes to the highway access.
ÒThis is part of our commitment to involving the community ahead of the usual planning procedures.Ó
The proposed development will comprise five two-bedroom homes and one one-bedroom bungalow.
Drum staff were on hand to answer any questions, with Paul Harrison from architects Miller Hughes Associates and East Hampshire District CouncilÕs housing development manager, Lynne Croker, and development and research officer, Mark Green.
District councillor John Venning, a member of the cabinet responsible for housing, said: ÒItÕs great that Drum and the district council have been to listen to what people in the local community actually want.
ÒThis is exactly the kind of consultation that needs to take place before planning developments in small villages such as Froxfield.Ó
