THE streets of Easebourne were lined with villagers and schoolchildren for the arrival of the Olympic torch relay on Monday morning, despite a wet, cold and windy start to the day.

The village was one of seven in Chichester District Council's area to see the flame paraded in the streets.

It had started in Petersfield, then progressing along its route through West Sussex, visiting Rogate, Midhurst, Easebourne, Tillington, Petworth and Duncton, before arriving in Chichester at lunchtime.

Torchbearers included Dom Raeyen, from Liphook, on the Rogate section, Sue Hubbard, from Alton in Midhurst, and Gail Whattingham, from Farnham, who carried it through Easebourne.
