WELL-known landscape and war artist Gordon Rushmer formally opened the Visual Arts third exhibition at Haslemere Museum.

This year’s event features Jo Berryman, Roni Frears, Nigel Hobbs, Barbara Mace and Margaret Newton as ceramicists while Andrea Basterfield, William Pullen, John Robinson and Ann Smith are exhibiting paintings of contrasting styles. Other disciplines are displayed by Harry Butler, wood turning, Hilary Charlesworth with her artistic woven fabrics and Christine and Tony Kalus who produce a range of mixed media jewellery.

Originially formed around 25 years ago, the Visual Arts group is a loose gathering of core members and additional invited guests, which together represent a wide cross section of the visual arts.

All involved have their own individual outlets but they come together from time to time. Other recent successful exhibitions have included at the Watts Gallery, near Guildford, Petworth House, and the Oxmarket Centre of Arts in Chichester. This exhibition is the group’s 18th and the third at the museum following appearances in 2012 and 2014.

Group member John Robinson said: “This is a diverse and dynamic exhibition of high quality and affordable work - an exhibition not to miss whatever your taste or budget and an opportunity to start thinking about your Christmas shopping."

The exhibition is open to the public until Saturday October 22 (10am-5pm, Tuesdays-Saturdays).
