Sangita Tailor from Lloyds and Gill Brett hosted a coffee afternoon, which raised more than £600 on the day, and were helped by Sangita’s son Nikhil and Charlotte Aldridge who baked cakes and sold raffle tickets during the afternoon.
Sangita said: “As the staff at Lloyds Bank Farnham helped with the various activities we are able to claim the full £1,240 matched giving, making the grand total of £2,480 to Macmillan Cancer Support.
“Macmillan were delighted with the funds raised and said that we were one of the top fundraisers in the area. Lloyds Bank were delighted to work in the community to help raise money for a charity very close to peoples heart. I also raised £60 from Chocolates for Chocoholics.”
Gabby Powell who runs a toddler group in Fleet raised more than £200 at her morning event, and was helped by her daughter, Daisy, who helped bake cakes and sell raffle tickets. Cara’s Tea Room in Alton held its own event, where they donated a percentage of their cake sales to Macmillan Cancer – they raised more than £120.
Charlotte Hair Design in Fleet raised £50, Ginny Pitfield and her fellow NCT ladies raised £100. There were other generous donations which boosted the final total to £1,240, with the help of local businesses which provided raffle prizes for the events.
