DESPITE the cold weather more than 15 volunteers turned out to help improve Badshot Lea Pond on Saturday afternoon.
John Martin, spokesperson for BLB, was delighted with the turnout and grateful to Farnham Town Council for providing a new bench and dedicating it to the Bloomers.
“We are also indebted to the Farnham Institute for funding the planting of two three metre high pear trees,” John added.
“These are the latest improvements to the pond since Waverley carried out major de-silting work and improvement following a grant from Tesco’s in 2016.
“It was a long day but mince pies, doughnuts and hot drinks kept everyone going there was even food pellets for the ducks.
“Our next project is to raise money to replace and extend the dipping platform. But in the meantime there’s is more work to do and a second day is being planned for after Christmas to clean out the bird boxes, remove willow saplings and remove dumped garden waste.
“Look out for details, all welcome.”
