A DOLL, a pair of boots, a set of keys and a kitchen mixing bowl were just some of the items found littering the streets of Farnham during a town centre community litter pick.

Around 20 volunteers gave up their time to join the Mayor of Farnham, Mike Hodge, and councillors during the two-hour Bloomin’ litter pick. The event concluded a week of litter-picking activities which had been organised as part of Farnham Town Council’s Autumn Big Pick Week.

Stephen Hill, the council’s lead member for community enhancement, said: “As well as thanking everybody who rolled up their sleeves and took part in the litter pick, I should also like to extend my thanks to the Farnham Ramblers, Badshot Lea Village Infant School, St Andrew’s Infant School, 5th Farnham Mountain Beavers, Tootsies Nursery, the Farnham in Bloom Community Group and all the scouts who did a magnificent job tidying up after the recent food festival.

“Finally, my thanks go to Farnham in Bloom sponsor Net Technical Solutions who organised a team litter pick and to the Badshot Lea Bloomers who are doing a litter pick this weekend in Badshot Lea.”

Bloomin’ Litter is a year-round campaign that aims to reduce the amount of litter in Farnham. To help keep Farnham tidy, Farnham Town Council has recruited a small army of volunteer litter pickers who choose to look after a specific area and keep it free from litter.
