ANGRY folk will stand before the bulldozers if planners give the nod to build on playing fields in Petersfield.

That's the verdict of councillors and people still seething with the South Downs National Park Authority for airing its wish to develop Penns Place.

The move was called counter-productive by one independent and either "silly" or "very calculated" by an angry man at a recent meeting.

Margaret Paren, the Liss Forest-based chairman of the South Downs National Park Authority, visited Penns Place last Wednesday to talk to residents about the next local plan.

But she probably left with earache as public concern about the adjacent playing fields dominated the East Hampshire District Council community forum meeting.
