BRAMSHOTT and Liphook Parish Council’s recreation committee has vowed to tackle the lack of parking spaces at the recreation ground off London Road.
At the August meeting, Jeanette Kirby pointed out that a number of cars were parked along the top of the bank behind the football pavilion while Eddie Trotter stated the area should be reserved for emergency vehicles only.
During the October meeting, Liphook United vice-president Fred Powers queried a letter sent by the parish council’s executive officer Peter Stanley, requesting that the area was kept clear in case emergency vehicles required access, when it had been used in this capacity in the past without any problems. United supporter Bob Hall pointed out that there is no designated disabled parking at the Recreation Ground and he knows of a disabled man, who parks on the bank to watch football matches from his car.
Recreation committee chairman Barbara Easton said she considered it was dangerous to children using the play park and dogs on the Recreation Ground and councillors agreed the subject of building an extension to the car park is added to the agenda of the next meeting.
It is due to take place at the Haskell Centre, on Midhurst Road, on Monday, November 23, from 7.30pm.
