STAFF and trustees at Alton Community Centre were keeping their fingers crossed on Wednesday as East Hampshire District Council's Cabinet prepared to make a decision on a £3.67m new-build project.

Despite the weather, the Cabinet was intending to meet to discuss the outcome of a public consultation and financial appraisal, and to authorise EHDC deputy chief executive Daphne Gardner to go out to tender and to progress the project with council leader David Parkinson.
